The first thing I did for myself this morning was make a cup of black tea with fresh ginger, almond milk and honey.

I’m going for a walk very soon, I like the idea of seeing the sunrise, I get to see the start of another day… that is hopeful.

Given the current circumstances, I have a choice in everything I do, I can subscribe to the strong winds right now or I can cultivate peace, do my art, and trust.

Once during a long 30 day course of silent meditation there was a tornado-like wind, I was in a tent, as my accommodations were very simple. The sound of the wind was like an oncoming freight train. My tent was starting to come off the ground with me in it! I was petrified. Moments later, while sitting on the edge of my bed I saw another woman meditator calmly walking over to my tent and tying the ropes that had come loose, her attitude was like “Oh, you know, it’s just strong wind”, she was calm and unafraid. That sweet act of kindness stayed with me for many years now.

Maybe we can offer moments of calmness for one another in times of fear and uncertainty. The biggest help is to stay calm and offer that to others, from a calm presence comes clear decisions and actions for the future.
