Hi dear friends,

Yes May! That was fast. It’s been almost two months since my last post. Where have I been??

I’m kind of in the depth of creative time. The thing about creative time is that it’s so invisible.

I started a very big drawing and it’s kind of exciting!

I’ve also been working on my “night studio” sketchbook, I call it night studio because it’s the time when I work on artwork at night combined with my journal entries, it feels very quiet and creative.

So now this is 5 years of coming back to life from the grief of losing Brad, my husband, life partner, colleague artist and friend.

I went into the depths of this unknown water, and I’m re-inventing myself without him.

Working on this sketchbook has been a life saver, and now I’m ready to take some of the work to develop into bigger pieces.

And then there’s the subject of fish… Yes, there are fish everywhere in my work!

The fish for me are a metaphor for the traveler that ventures below the surface of the subconscious mind. Traveling below the surface and looking into the depths of the underworld.

I also get a lot of feedback that my work is looking like my Brad’s work (my husband). It may be true, I may be stealing from his visual language but that is something all artists do… all the time.

I want to finish this post before it’s not even May anymore.
